One of the best things about not working is having a weekend. I love the feeling of being able to lie in on a Saturday morning, watching the sky through the skylight turn through different colours as the sun rises. Some Saturdays can be chock full of fun things to do, but other days can be spent walking around barefoot, sorting things out around the home and doing fun things you often don’t have time to do. The other week I dragged my sewing machine out of my ‘craft alcove’ and tinkered around a bit. Feeling inspired, and spotting a sale on Sew Today, I got some dressmaking patterns which I’m looking forward to starting, once I’ve got the right material to make things with! First on my list is a skirt pattern which I’ve had for several years now.
[Some stuffed birdies I made from my Cath Kidston ‘sew’ book- I might make them into a baby mobile, depending on whether the people I know who are expecting have girls or boys!]
Today has been a relaxed Saturday; this morning I had a flick through a stack of books I dragged home from the library yesterday (mostly about dressmaking, as I was befuddled by the pattern!) The weather is still holding out to be fairly nice, so even odd jobs like hanging out the washing was nice, breathing in the fresh air and looking over the park. The kittens have seemed to enjoy a chilled out Saturday; although they’re getting more adventurous and mischievous every day, they have slept quietly for most of the morning. They’re probably saving their energy for tonight, when they will doubtless get passed from person to person as Gospel Choir invades to watch Dr. Who!
[Now their ears have popped up they look like proper kittens, and are just learning how to playfight- above!]
For the rest of today I hope to sort the kitchen so I can get some baking done, after perusing pinterest and bloglovin for a bit longer. I’ve been playing around with my background today; I’m still not sure it’s right, but I need something there until I get around to drawing (yes, drawing by hand..) myself a header to (finally!) put on. Watch this space!
