This year I’m thinking about ‘present’, and what that means. Being present physically, being present in my role, relationships, in our home and really abiding in God’s love. When I was working out what to read next I realised I have a whole load of books on my wishlist which are so pertinent to this focus for the year.
I often don’t read very much non-fiction- typically I read a lot of fiction and love entering worlds of the imagination through them., but I’ve found myself with quite a list of books I would love to prioritise this year. Some of them are overtly about being present in the moment and savouring everyday life, and others are to do with being present in relationships, at home and other areas of life well.
I don’t necessarily expect to read all of these- I’ve got to fit in my fiction after all!- but this is the list I will be working off when I need ideas for a new non-fiction book to pick up. It can add up to keep buying lots of new books, especially since where we are our libraries have fees to reserve books and they often don’t have this type of non-fiction stocked, but I remembered that you can get second-hand books on Amazon, so I’m going to be doing this for some of mine as well as getting them on Kindle. So if you’re looking for some good and encouraging reads for your own year, see if any take your fancy too.
