Baby number one is officially full term today! It’s quite strange to think I could give birth any day now and baby wouldn’t be ‘early’ or premature! Hoping baby stays inside for a while to grow bigger yet though.
I thought I would write some top pregnancy tips according to moi- then they are here for future reference if necessary, as much for me to re-read some time later as anything, so they’re written as if to myself. Just a few things which I have found helpful and have learnt over the last 8 months or so!
Sleep whenever you can. Especially in the first trimester when you’re shattered all the time, an afternoon nap is quite pleasant. You will appreciate it later when it’s uncomfortable to sleep and you have crazy dreams.
Eat often. Always have food with you. Eat as soon as you wake up, and frequently in the day- it helps fight against nausea particularly in the first trimester. You will be hungry, lots. Don’t go out without food, or at least go somewhere where food is readily available!
Do things now which you want to do ‘at some point before the baby comes’. If they are at all possible or practical, get them done! Energy and physical limitations might stop you later, and time really does whizz past.
Take your diary everywhere and use it! Pregnancy brain frequently stops you remembering what day it is, never mind what you’re doing for the next week.
Clothes: Leggings, cardigans and long tops are invaluable. Buy pregnancy jeans early on as they are very comfy and then you get maximum wear out of them!
Pillows, lots of pillows. They make sleeping more comfy. Especially under bump in the last few months.
Cocoa butter is lovely, smells great and does help. But you’ll probably still get stretchmarks when baby grows pretty fast. Don’t stress about it!
Take bump photos– try to remember to do them regularly, maybe on a certain day, or you’ll forget and you’ll miss weeks without noticing…
Swimming is nice. Also good to get exercise.
Be positive! It could be a lot worse. Sure, there are niggles, but isn’t it amazing there’s a life growing inside you!? Appreciate it, time goes fast.
