The air is now biting and cold, not just crisp, and the swift descent of blackness in the evenings reminds me that winter is nearing. Branches have suddenly released their carefree golden leaves into the air, and the torrential rain outbursts turn crisp piles into soggy messes underfoot. At home we bundle up in layers to go outside, relish the protection and warmth of the walls and fight with the baby and the toddler to sleep despite the wintery darkness.
So that I don’t get swept up in the shortening days and battles against naps without making the time count, I’ve made some goals for this month. I hope they will allow me to use our time, these precious months at home with both little ones well. These are goals with grace– so if it all goes wrong, I will remember grace and not feel guilty about it all.
– Work out a schedule for the week more, include more fun or spontaneous outings
– Read some of the Gospel-Centred Family
– Put up photoframes in our bedroom
– Finish the lounge
– Paint Phoebe and Simeon’s room
– Book holidays (s) (or vacations to those of you who think Christmas is a holiday)
– Start getting Christmas presents
– Organise spare room kids’ clothes stash
– Read the Storybook Bible at meals
Do you have any aims or goals for this month? I’m hoping the house will make steps to being more of a home, that we will have holidays sorted (we’ve not been away since Simeon was a couple of weeks old) and that God will be more a part of our children’s everyday life.
