October is knocking on our door, full of its orangey and purple hues in leaf laden branches, coverings across fields and piles floating up as the cars travel through those windswept piles. Those amber landscapes will ever remind me of having Amelia, our youngest, nearly two years ago, as we drove to and fro along tree lined country roads to have jaundice checks for that first blurry week. It’s a time to hunker down, think ahead to how to make these darkening evenings a little more cosy, enjoy warm food and good company.
This weekend for us is going to be a very rare one of time together as a family of five- rare in this little stretch of time as Josh’s work is so full on at the moment. Whatever your plans- here are some weekend vibes.
An absorbing read
The Cuckoo’s Calling is an engaging and absorbing read (by JK Rowning in pseudonym no less) and this private detective mystery will keep you occupied as days draw in. Or for a good dose of classics and nostalgia perfect for autumn revisit an Austen novel (get to know the Bennetts in Pride and Prejudice if you’ve never read it!)
A good eat
Put this in the slow cooker, get some bread, and you’ll arrive home to the delicious smell of dinner already waiting. It is one of my go-to recipes now (and you don’t need to adjust anything if you have vegetarian or vegan guests!)
For your listening pleasure
If you want some ideas on ways to enjoy these colder months (not just survive them) and how to cultivate some extra lovelines in your life this is such a good listen.
I hope you have a lovely weekend full of adventures and rest- whatever that looks like for you!
