There’s a place I know, not too far from here, where you can push open the steel gate and step into a green luscious garden, dipped into a valley with running water. We can tread the gravel paths, explore, choosing whether to go this way, along past the pond, or that way, around towards the steps. Golden glimmers of fish can be counted, fresh air inhaled and exhaled deeply- while the sound of peace and stillness, pulsing through the greenery descends into our souls. I will never fail to be inspired by the secret garden that we have, to find one more beautiful thing in amongst the lovely paths.
It’s not a place that boasts with showy flowers or dazzling arrays of colours, but quietly surrounds you with its beauty. A perfect place to sit on a bench for a while, to watch water flowing gently down stream and marvel at the many different shapes an fern, mid opening, can make. A place to retreat, to stop, to submerge yourself in nature- and to take a happy detour for an outing after school has finished.
