I knew that with a new baby (Amelia) being born at the end of October, that this year the time between September and Christmas would fly by, and indeed it has! I’m somewhat enjoying the cold weather and the anticipation of the celebrations which seem just around the corner.
With Christmas approaching I am both thinking about the preparations which need to be made and spotting the plethora of lovely things which are about, particularly from all the small businesses I am discovering. I’ve been working in my spare (very few) moments on these Christmas prints and Christmas cards too! In the spirit of sharing, I thought I would show you some lovely things for creatives, of all shapes and sizes, so have a look if you have one in your life!
For the crochet lover – attic 24 yarn from the wool warehouse means you can make a fabulous blanket with the free patterns on the blog, using a beautiful selection of wool. I made Phoebe a granny square blanket for her second birthday using a stash of wool I had already, but it would be so easy to have the set of colours already ready to use.
For bible journaling– a journaling Bible with wide margins mean plenty of space to write, doodle and draw as you study the bible. This one has been tempting me for a while, along with this one!
For the try-all-the-crafts person – a we make collective subscription. I got the first kit for weaving as a reward for backing the Kickstarter and it was amazing. It may have started something as I can’t stop weaving now! This would be a lovely present to get as either a one off box gift or even a years subscription, which means a new box of goodies and a chance to learn a new skill every two months, along with access to tutorials and inspiration.
For the artist– Winsor Newton watercolours are my favourite, and also Phoebe’s! There’s a number of sizes and shapes of sets which you can get. I’ve also been considering trying gouache (like watercolours but opaque).
For the writer– there’s a plethora of lovely notebooks on etsy – and of course I will shamelessly plug my ‘write something’ moleskine!
For the weaver (or wannabe weaver!) – these looms by funemstudio look amazing. They also have lovely roving and cotton warp, but order quick before Christmas as they’re in Belgium!
For papercutting– look at these beautiful templates from Samatha’s Papercuts– such stunning and intricate designs it makes me want to learn!
For the life-long learner– Alisa Burke has some wonderful courses online which are about all kinds of creative subjects- photography, journaling, landscapes.
What’s on your Christmas list? Anything I’ve included that you fancy?
